Japanese woodblock or Mokuhanga is a traditional Japanese relief printing process. It uses no solvents, just water-colour/pigment, starch paste and water, applied with brushes. It doesn’t require a press, just a hand-held disc called a baren.
It is a subtle and beautiful process with unique qualities.
For anyone who wants to keep up, refresh, develop or share their Mokuhanga practice with some support.
